Higashi Eyewear emerged from an eyewear boutique rooted in design, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for materials. Influenced by our founder, Susan Fotos’ time in Japan and an early focus on curated jewelry, particularly pearls sourced from eastern Japan, the foundation was shaped by restraint, balance, and thoughtful selection.
As relationships with clients developed, so did the direction of the collection. What began with readers and sunwear gradually evolved into prescription eyewear, guided less by intention to expand and more by a natural shift toward what offered the greatest impact. Eyewear became the medium through which personal style could be most clearly expressed.
The collection today reflects a balance of independent design and established craftsmanship, bringing together frames defined by proportion, material, and detail. Selected from designers such as Anne et Valentin, Masunaga, Face a Face, and JF Rey, each piece is chosen for how it performs when worn, rather than for recognition alone.
Guided by an optician-led approach, Higashi places equal emphasis on design, fit, and individual preference. The experience is measured and personal, shaped through observation and refinement, allowing each selection to develop naturally.
With a focus on curation, consistency, and long-standing client relationships, Higashi continues to offer an approach to eyewear that feels considered, individual, and quietly assured.
